How to test fuel pressure on 88 XJS
I'm trying to get my 88 XJS V-12 back on the road after it has been sitting for several years.
I've done a few repairs (engine wiring, distributor, exhaust, etc.) now I'm trying to get it started. It will start using starter fluid but only for a few seconds. Only kicks and sputters without starting fluid so there's probably a fuel problem. I drained the tank, cleaned the pickup screen, and put in fresh fuel. The pump runs when I turn on the key so I don't think it's the pump.
How can I check the fuel pressure? The service manual says to pull a line off the cold start injector but my engine doesn't have any. I've thought about pulling the injectors but it doesn't look like an easy task.

It's abit of a nuisance. You'll have to splice a "T" into the fuel hose on the left side of the fuel rail...the one that sorta runs parallel to the rail. You'll see it.
When you're done you'll have to replace the line....or make your "T" permanent fitting somehow.
It's easy to cut the crimps and install a new hose, though.
Cheers
