I've never seen an XJS like that. Certainly UK-spec ones don't do that. Maybe it's a US after-market addition?

I assumed that was normal. I will look through the car to see if an alarm system was added. I have not seen of heard it since I bought the car.
I will wait until the rain stops (hopefully before April here in BC) I will post findings
