I had a fire. If you want the story, I write it at the bottom. Now my car needs some repairs. I need help identifying some parts.
I am putting labels on pats that I remove so I know what it is and where it goes. Some parts I don't know where it's from. These parts have red labels that say "IDK" as in I don't know what this.
In the photo I put a 1 meter long centimeter scale.
Any insight, comments welcome.
The story: I knew rubber fuel hoses needed replacing. I replaced some but not all. On the 2nd trip after my replacing some fuel hoses it started smoking from the engine bay. I pulled to the side. It was on fire. I called the fire brigade. We didn't open the bonnet. Used like 3-5 fire extinguishers small and big on it. It didn't burn very heavily but it kept burning. The fire brigade could disconnect the battery and properlyput it out. The duration of the fire may have been 15 minutes. I had a tow truck take it to a mechanic. I didn't like the mechanic's offer. Now the car is in a garage that I am renting. I started working on it myself. I am not a mechanic, no experience
but I like working on this car. If it takes me a long time, so be it. I am ordering lots of parts.

Long pipe on the left of the group of pipes is the vac pipe from the firewall to the vac reservoir with the take off to the booster
The long pipe next to it has me stumped, is your car a left hand drive one? and which year is it? Maybe that poipe goes across the firewall to the LHS brake booster and the hooked take off on it is for the booster.
Someof the smaller pipes look lke connectros for the brake vac pipes
Before the fire my car was rust free. Now it looks very rusty. I will take the engine out just ot get the rust treated. huhh.
I have an allergy problem too. I wear a face mask when working on it. Hope the problem goes away as I clean it off.
Then all box sections then sprayed with speciality paint from Indestructible Paints, Birmingham, England. This is the sort of stuff: Zinc Chromate which is the absolute best, I forget exactly what they sold me; but if you talk to them they will advise what to use. This is the "white" paint you refer to, actually light grey. HUGELY expensive it was, but rust in the UK is a major problem: https://indestructible.co.uk/product...romate-primer/
I painted outside the box sections in this area too, as I had to weld up the inner wings behind the shock strengtheners (a common rust point so look out for it) and also round the seams near the brake booster area which also needed welding.
On any areas that have rusted after the fire, use a chemical cleaner to remove the surface rust before painting. 75% phosphoric acid is best, if you can fuind a industrial supplier, but there are proprietory ones that work OK: https://por15.com/products/metal-prep
