Default I had an unusual experience this morning

My alternator died. A friend said he had one I could have. Turned out it was the wrong type but the diode pack was the same so I pulled mine, swapped the diodes and took it to Auto Zone for a quick test. It tested OK so I reinstalled the alternator. Put everything back together and it fired right up. Charging like a champ.

What's unusual? No problems. No dropped/lost tools, bolts, or nuts. No parts left over. The entire process went so smoothly I just had to tell someone!!!

Must be a full moon - I had an alternator issue in my MGB today. The case split at the mounting ear and I had to use a ratchet strap to hold it together for the drive home. I stole the CS-130D I was putting in my XJS to keep the MGB on the road. I didn't lose any finger tips or nuts and bolts!

This is how I nursed it home for 10 miles...

When I got home and removed the alternator...

Here's the CS-130D I stole from my XJS...

BLOODY WELL DONE>

BUT

You only have 1/2 the engine, so anything you drop MUST fall out the bottom.

I need a drink

WELL DONE AGAIN.
