Default Injector plugs

As I was removing the cruise control unit above the V of the engine I noticed that when I touched the electric plugs of the injector harness, the just unclipped and they fell apart... They've become completely brittle... Anyone who had the same experience? What's the best thing to do?

The wires and connectors get fully baked from engine heat. Very common. If one crumbles aprt you can bet that the others will, too.

The cure is to replace the harness. You can buy a new harness for $600+. Most of us gasp at that and buy the materials to make up a new harness on our own...usually about $150 and a few hours light labor.

If you want to make a new harness post back for details. Many of us can provide input

$600 that is insane for some wires and plugs! Can these plugs be bought seperatey and soldered to the wires? Or can more common 12v plugs be used?

I plan on making a new harness with wires that run through a chrome tube! That would be much cleaner on the engine compared to these ordinary black taped wires... Or is that a bad idea?

Best regards, fred

Google "Bosch Fuel Injector Connector". You'll get lots of hits

Use chrome tubes if you wish. I prefere a temp-resistant sheathing. The most important thing is to get the wiring elevated away from the intense engine heat.
