Default Jaguar XJS Celebration 1996 4.0 Cabriolet

Hi, the cooling fan is clashing with the shroud and ask for opinions were the problem could be;

Looking at the explode view there's probably 4 areas of concern

11 - Jockey pulley play
8 & 9 - play in the pulley / pulley bearing
2 - Torquatrol unit damage spinning of centre

Difficult to sense any play with hands but when the car is cooling it clashes occasionally

Another possibility worn engine mounts again they look ok but can't measure old vs new

Any thoughts more than appreciated

Most likely a failed gearbox mounting, if the fan is hitting the top of the shroud hole.

For my car, it was the engine mounts. One side delaminated, which you'll only be able to tell when removing. I would start there.

I think the fan was more prone to making contact when I made left hand turns, which I think means that the passengers side mount had failed.
