Default Keeping the faith

Finally making progress with my v12 after 12 months of chopping out rust and gobbling old under seal. Few more weeks and hopefully after xmas I can begin the next task of restoring the rear cage. Then the front suspension. Then the engine. Then a respray. Then the interior. And finally a new hood. Alongside that copious amounts of cash and graft. Hope it's all going to be worth it in the end. Is it normal to have doubts about ones sanity lol or is it just me.?!!!!!

Quite normal, and it keeps you out of the pub and away from chasing girls all the time. But then again, you are talking to fellow inmates!

Perfectly normal!
I especially love the mission creep that goes on.
I recently tried to fix my door mirrors; failed miserably on that and now also have no central locking due to misconnecting a wire somewhere and blowing the fuse. Tried a circuit tester on the fuse box and think I actually pushed the wires out.
Going to brave the cold and take the beast out for a run, it always cheers me up.

NORMAL, and the best part there is NO actual FIX, apart from buying another V12 just in case.

It's all worthwhile when (like today) a complete stranger comes up and compliments you on your car and says he looks forward to you blasting past him in a few minutes whilst he is walking his kid.
Never say I'm not obliging: blasting past duly carried out.
Must get the brakes sorted properly.

My tricks to keep the faith: No timeline on the restoration, so no pressure. And a second XJS to drive around in for all those 'Screw it. Let's just sell it all.' moments.

These cars should be made illegal. The low prices make for easy introduction to get us hooked. Once addicted, we become delusional and believe we are envied by non XJS men and women swoon at the sight of us in the drivers seat. All our money and attention all begin to go toward supporting our habit. Friends with lesser autos drift away. Soon we are left laying on the garage floor, looking for that high that comes with installing that next piece.
Wow, I love it.

This is said so perfectly, I should frame it and hang it in my garage. One 'nice car' from someone at a gas station and I ride on air for a whole day. One eBay auction in the UK where a car similar to mine sells for four times what I paid and I feel like a financial guru. And dealing with this chaotic V12 engine is so much more fun than repairing my Saturn where everything is simple and makes sense. :-)

I usually end up lying on the garage floor crying and looking through the dust in my wallet.
