Farewell XKR and new huge leap of faith, wife going to kill me
So after about 1 year ownership of my “old” XKR, I thought it was time to sell it before it passed 100000 km and the value would decrease even faster. So it is gone, took me 1 week and I got what I had paid..…
I absolutely loved it, such a great car, electrical gremlins aside. Best V8 sound ever (sport exhaust option), wife never really cared for it, do not know why.
So I have been contemplating what to move on/in to.. Had my mind set on a Ferrari F430 low mileage, had found one, but then a good looking F430 Spider appeared, also black… Now the price started rising. So went to the dealer, and ending up signing for a 458 Italia 2011 Black w 11000 km…
Wife is going to kill me when she comes home from vacation, the son will love me.. Will pick the car up Friday. Cant wait..
Guys, I want to thank you all, really great forum, have learnt so much and always positive feedback, really appreciated.. Best of luck to all of you…

Waaaah! If I had a safe garage, that's what I'd have as a spare car as well. Just magnificent. Black with tan interior and the yellow calipers, AMAZING! You have arrived, my friend. While we will miss you, it's easy to understand your choice :-)
Send pics when able, major upgrade...

Ive had a pleasure of driving a 2013 458 for a month...
after my partner put it under the back of a pickup and did 160K in damage to it. After the repair was done I drove it for a month until it was time to send it to auction. I was impressed, especially after having driven his 2013 Aventador. Whats funny is he ordered and took delivery of a 2014 Aventador roadster and sold it back to the dealer after 100 miles for a profit. He is so hooked on Ferrari is a joke.
Long story short, driving it (458) as a daily driver is fun and nerve racking. Making sure the road is decent and not a pot hole filled piece of crap, watching other drivers so they don't hit you while looking at you. Parking it ANYWHERE....but then you will most likely always leave from the stop light first and can pass in a heartbeat. I will try to find the pic I took just changing lanes..... when I realized I was doing 100. The car is kinda too fast but the motor roar behind the seat is kinda cool, especially when the rear window is down.
Enjoy..... and remember NOTHING on the car is cheap. If you thought Jaguars were expensive wait till ya drop 12K on a clutch, LOL.

Stormdk,
Congratulations on the Ferrari purchase. It's a beautiful car and destined to be another Ferrari classic. The hiding it from the wife stories remind me of the time that my late best friend who had a penchant for fast cars but especially 12 cylinder Ferraris, hid his gorgeous 512BBi in my garage for two years(!) while he was going through a divorce with his first wife. He eventually sold it after the divorce and replaced it several years later with a 550 Maranello. Secretly, I was jealous of his ability to have had 3 Ferraris over the years, and it spurred me on to buy the Pantera, which I still have today. (I couldn't afford the Ferrari I would have wanted)
Best of luck explaining to your wife.
