Yeah, way back when, I removed the washer pump from my 83.
I did a bench test and found it to run just fine. Replaced and rewired.
Dud. flunked that exercise. Oh, well, I'll just squirt on Windex and hand clean. Not much of a rainy season around here anyway. Might just try again.
My Jeep's washers are very "powerfull". So, as it gets foul weather duty, all is well there. I was out of wiper fluid a time or so ago. I added a tad of car wash soap and some plain water. No freeze damage issue at the time. It worked just fine.
Caveat; Too much wax from wash compounds can cause a glare on the glass!!!

Hi Carl
There was a note on my bottle of Mer, that recommends that you don't use it on Glass, so of course I had to try it just to find out why not.
It gets the Glass so Clean and Shiny, that you start to think the Windscreen isn't there!
I use Autoglym's Fastglass and have done for many years.
I use paper kitchen roll and the whole car takes 5 minutes to clean the glass or 10 minutes if I want it perfect.
Lol. yeah, these guys at the top of their game detailing really extremely high end cars and 1 of a kinds can command serious fees Bearing in mind that the car can be worth £1M or 2 or 3 times that and almost irreplaceable, take into account their knowledge / expertise / history etc and you get the picture
Many Thanks for replying but I need the Windscreen/Windshield absolutely perfect as I want to Make some Road Trip Videos and Film through the glass.
Oh I didn't mean those don't work, I just meant that I don't do them often enough.
With something that grabs alot like newspaper, you can feel the paper drag on the window unless it is clean, so it gives you a really good feel for it, plus no lint.
A clay bar should remove just about anything you need and if it is really really messed up you can go at it with a DA and a bit of glaze or polish.
RainX will help keep it clean, it works similar to waxing but isn't as likely to leave smudges or glare in my experience.
You can always get a mount to put the camera on the exterior if you are that worried about the glass.
I have used Liquid Glass Polish for years, not only for the car but on the glass, and headlights. keeps the rain,IMO better than Rain X and longer lasting, bugs, tar and road grim come off easy. and it can be applied in direct sun
