Default leather wrapped dash and purpleheart inlays

So my little brother was looking at my dash and said "I'd be interested in redoing the wood" and we were discussing the possibilities.
I personally am not a fan of the wood on the dash, so I'm thinking of making something a little different. First off I plan on having the dash wrapped in leather or suade (sp) and I plan on doing a custom inlay of purpleheart and ebony.

My brother Travis who is 17 runs his own small business making custom wood furnishings pens and martial arts weapon

Just was interested in some feedback and I will post pictures as soon as I get started

I have never liked the elm finish. Dark burled walnut is my cup of tea, but then my XJSes have been black on black. Elm might look good on light interiors. Go with what blows your skirt up.

the elm looks nice in later cars with tan dashes but look faded in an older black dash.
With leather or suede could do a lot of things. something really dark would probably look really nice

i have been toying with the idea of covering the wood on the ski slope, the switch/trip computer panel, and dash pieces with a brushed aluminum wrap.
now before anyone flames me, i'm not looking for the bmw racer-boy look, rather something more classic like the e-type or early xjs photos attached.

my ski slope veneer is already coming up for the second time, and with the wrap, i can always switch it back if i dont like it.

i havent seen anything like it, so its going to take a bit of a leap of faith.

If it goes well, he could undoubtedly make some money doing it for people on this forum.

It seems people are always looking to tinker with the interiors. Depending on what you guys come up with and how well it turns out, he could have himself a steady stream of side projects!
