I'm solving the relay placement "Compressor clutch relay" and "Cooling fan relay".
My engine compartment looks like the picture (I only have these relays in the engine.), but I'm not sure which relay is which. XJS 1988 5.3 L, Hess&Eisenhardt. USA version.

All the relays and control systems for the compressor are in the cabin and are part of the aircon unit. The attachment to post 6 of this thread willl help you understand the system. You have a Delanair 2 system. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ng-fan-291445/
The auxiliary fan relay will be found under a black plastic cover just to the rear of the LHS headlight nacelle in the engine bay. This cover shields the headlight, fan and horn relay.
