Loose Hose to Air Filter Housing - is this the way its supposed to be?
Noticed this hose with a large round metal fitting at the end, it has a protrusion that sits loosely in a hole on the inner side of the RH air filter housing. I pulled it out to better show the parts and their positions.
Seems there should be something holding this connection in place. Then again, it is a Jaguar...
Anyone know what this is, what it does, and what (if any) part I'm missing?

"Extra Air Valve" (or similar words)
There's supposed to be a grommet to hold it snugly in place.
When the a/c compressor is engaged the valve opens and admits "extra air" to increase idle speed...thus compensating for the drag of the compressor

Ah, that makes sense. My AC compressor was removed (it self destructed some time ago), got a replacement Harrison rebuilt unit that I plan to have installed soon. I'll remind my mechanic to replace the missing grommet then, though I have a feeling he probably knows...
Thanks.
Thanks.
