Default More Pain

Hi All, my xjs has two stuck exhaust valves. Stripped down with the head half lifted now. It's a V12 and the A bank. I have released the engine mounts, but When I jack the engine up to give clearance to remove the head, the cars frame starts lifting? I'm scratching my head as to why? I'm lifting it from the front sandwich plate, and the jack is not fouling anything else. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello Digger

This could be a really silly answer - but is the suspension just lifting with the reduced weight being on it. The suspension will have to be fully released before the motor will leave the frame.

I had to do this recently, and I ran into the same issue, and it stopped me until I had a bit of think about it.

Happy holidays by the way

Cheers
Steve

There is only a limited amount of space between the transmission bell housing and the firewall. So the bell housing could be hitting the body. Unloading the front suspension is probably the reason though. Just be careful that you don't accidentally crush "something" at the back of the motor.. Good Luck, and... Merry Christmas.
