my 89 xjs keeps cuting out
hello my 1989 5.3 xjs keeps cutting out for no apparent reason ,then after a minuet or so , couple of turns of the key and we are off again, iv been informed it may well be the IAC (idle air control valve) ? iv tried to fined this in my manuals, but seem to be going round in circles with no results. could anyone please direct me to were i can fined it on the car and maybe a part number many thank .pete

Sounds like a fuel starvation issue to me. Blocked filter, crud in tanks (very common) or pump. That's where I would start.
