Default Mystery switch on steering column

I have a small rocker switch on the steering column of my 1996 4.0 the function of which I can not work out.

I'm not sure if its factory fitted or some retrofitted thing for an old immobiliser or something.

Does anyone else have one?

Thanks

Ralf

Likely a security system/valet switch. Probably related to small red light in pic. Do you have jag CATS security fitted?

As above. Its the so called valet switch. It allows certain sections of the alarm to turn off when you hand the car over to a valet parker. If you ever do that you should also give them the green key as this also restricts what they can open. I have never used the switch or the key as l never use valet parking lol
