Need insight on this XJS.
Hi folks,
What do you think of this car? It has odd vents and badges on it. Are they aftermarket, or is it some kind of special addition?
Thanks

1. check for bondo, if it has any mud in it, RUN! Canadian XJS is a scary thought, especially 28 y/o.
2. Make sure these chinese badges are removable without paint damage, if not, knock off $1500 right there. Idiot has got to pay for labeling semi-classic car with children's plastic.
3. Check engine temperature being stable at all modes and make sure oil pressure does not go below 20 psi, even at hot idle.
4. Pull up as much carpeting as you can and dig deep.

XJSs of this vintage are fundamentally very much alike. Many small changes over the years but the basics are all the same. A "good one" or "bad one" is MUCH more dependant on how the car has been treated than any particular model year.
There's a buyer's guide in one of the sticky threads at the top of this section. It might be useful to you
Cheers

PS- Guess I'm odd man out on the wheels. I kinda like 'em :-). Handsome looking, not glitzy or fru-fru :-)

No offense taken....not by me, at least !
I have never driven one though, and may be I should just to see if it grabs me.
Good idea. But make your decision based on a good example, not a crummy one. There are many more of the latter than the former, unfortunately.

This car will defiantly need a paint job, who do people think they are fooling with the stupid hose trick..
I think he just hosed it down to get the dust off and took pictures right away.
I love badly painted tyres, they add character.
I think Steve was referring to the "Ultra High Gloss Super Wet Look" tire dressing that was obviously applied with a mop :-)
LOL, you guys are hilarious. im the only one who noticed it was raining outside?
