need some help with hose connection locations
I'm "dry assembling" the engine to make sure I have everything straight before I start bolting things down. I had thought that I did a much better job of documenting what went where than I actually did, as I'm left scratching my head about some connections.
The photo shows a broken plastic hose connector (labeled "A"), a hose that may go to the upper connection on the coolant overflow tank (labeled "B"), and the question-mark shaped pipe with hose at both ends (labeled "C"), which I think goes to the lower connection on the coolant overflow tank.
Can someone confirm or refute my guesswork, and clue me in to where the broken plastic connector is supposed to go? Something tells me it goes to the upper end of the question-mark hose...
Thanks,
John

You are correct about B and about C. C is the lower connection on the side and B is the connection on top.
As for A? it should have a vacuum line on it that goes to a junction that runs out of the air cleaner.
You will notice your "C" is flipped from mine, I have no idea why but as you can see its not wrong, but made differently.

This would be the line in question

Since you didn't ask I am assuming this vacuum hose isn't a problem, but seeing as you didn't know the other connection I thought you may want to double check. You can also clearly see "LINE B" in this picture.

Got another question for you...in regards to your bottom photo (the one overdrawn in blue) does the hose below the oil cooler connect to the thermal valve located on the front LF water manifold?
If it does, where does the other line off the thermal valve go? From the diagram I dug up, it should go to the purge pipe. Problem is, my car doesn't have a purge pipe! Doesn't look like a big deal to fabricate one, but then I have to wonder where the third end of the purge pipe (the one with nothing attached in the drawing) goes?
Thanks again!

I may not be able to answer your question here. If you look at the top of this diagram, this purge pipe is only fitted on cars with charcoal canisters. My car doesn't have one.
I would be quicker to assume your car doesn't either, rather than it has been removed.
I just took the dog out and checked real quick, and the line running from the valve goes to the T that you see in the diagram. One end goes off to the throttle body as it says.
However on MY car the other end of the T immediately turns up and runs into the far left hand side of the intake manifold. The hose is only 1-2 inches long and immediately feeds in.
The closest thing to it in my pictures would be right because the "T" that the red line feeds into.
Hope this helps

Thanks again. Yes, mine does have a charcoal canister forward of the left front wheel.
I've taken a very scientific poll by Googling V12 engines, looking at the pics of all the Jaguar 5.3's I could find, and noting that the purge pipe shows up in very very few photos (in fact only one that I've been able to find). Not sure what to think about that. Either people have found a reason to take them off, they were not installed on that many engines, or some other reason I can't come up with at the moment.
Thanks for looking though, I appreciate it!

So for you does #3 go to the canister? I'm wondering because it doesn't for me...so i was sorta thinking your missing link could be that it goes to the canister.
I just visited your other thread....mate, according to the diagram from jaguar, that metal tube goes to the same place as mine, its just the plumbing is a bit different.
Seems like that metal tube somehow mounts on or very near the manifold and then a rubber line comes out of it and runs into the front side of the intake manifold just like mine.
To be a bit more specific: The second picture you have, which I recognise as being one placed on the hood, shows that tube with the bracket on the end turning into a rubber hose and then connecting to the end of the intake manifold. I can take some pictures to better explain if you don't seem what I mean.

NOW my #3 goes to the canister. Before it was hard to say, may of the vacuum hoses in that area were severed or missing.
If, at your convenience sometime, you might take a few more photos that would be great. Even though you don't have a canister I might be able to sort it out based on some of the other diagrams. Would you mind passing your engine # along? Mine is 45492, and the drawing indicated the purge pipe was installed on 44060 and after, which I why I think it should be on mine.
Thanks!
