From new...
My parents bought my car new in 89, right off the showroom floor. I bought it back nearly a year ago and got it running again. I haven't driven more than a few hundred miles since I've gotten the car back, it has roughly 115k miles on it now.
Most people that buy new cars only keep them for 3-4 years or until the warranty is about to expire. Older cars are usually owned by enthusiasts who could not have afforded them when they were new.

Good point!
Kind of a tender subject here...
Everybody here has owned new cars, except for the car enthusiast. It may be, precisely, because the "enthusiast" car happens to be a JAG. I've owned a few Jags, but the newest one had about 16000 miles on it, but it sure "felt" new to me then.
Cheers,

OH GOD... I'm an enthusiast... or insane.

Actually, this may not be what you'd expect for such an old car, but I was just thinking about this post and recalling the surprising amount of one owner V12 convertible cars that I came across recently in the hunt for my XJS.
I was looking for a 1991 or earlier model for fair money and I found that it was pretty common to come across cars that only had 1 previous owner from new. At one point I think I ran the CarFax on four Florida cars a row that came up as 1 owner cars from new. I was shocked about this at first, but then I realised that a lot were coming up through Estate Sales etc from owners that had retired in Florida - I guess the jags were retirment purchases and that they were outlasting the owners, or at leat the owners ability to drive - a few were being sold for "an elderly neighbor that can no longer drive."
