Default New black mechanical fan

Hi there,

After checking my fan blades, I want the new fan... Mine has 4 deep cracks around the central mounting section.

I've read here somewhere, and can't find it anymore (would be nice if the search worked better), that the new black fan blade does not fit the normal viscous clutch. My clutch still works well so I only want to replace the blades... (EBC4553)

Does anyone here have the exact measurements or the bore and screw pattern of the mounting surface? Metric please

Cheers

Damien

I just happen to have a spare black fan. Center bore is 2.60" /66mm, bolt holes center to center seem to be 2.30"/ 58.5mm. There is a ring of perforations at the edge of the center steel plate that the clutch bolts to, the clear diameter inside those holes is ~5"/130mm.

For working on these cars you know you really need a set of inch sized tools!

I have a set of imperial tools, thats not the worry. I needed the measurements to determine if I need another torquatrol unit or if I have the right one already

Cheers!

I swapped a yellow fan for a black one on my Daimler DS420 and it bolted right up to the old clutch unit, so it should be a direct fit for you.

The clutch has to come off anyway, so it doesn't matter. If I remember correctly, the fan and clutch has to be removed as a unit from the car; and each nut that holds the clutch to the car needs to come off a bit at a time. There isn't enough space to remove it completely and move to the next nut. That's certainly true when reinstalling it.

All long time removed... Without removing it, you can't get the blades off...

Same story here, black EBC4553 fitted straight on my '89 HE engine.

I liked the look of the white fan though, but I also like to keep my bonnet free of dents from an exploding fan...

I remember reading it here... But if it all works without any hassle then all is fine...

The black fan won't fit some aftermarket clutch replacements that fit the yellow fan. Complete info is the Kirby Palm's "The Book".
