Default noisy alternator

earlier this year I fitted a 115 amp alternator but had started to hear a twittering noise when pulling away after starting, I removed the alt. today and the noise turned out to be pulley not being able to drive the alt. when its pumping high amps. the nut was as tight as even I could get it but it wasn't enough, there is provision for a woodruff in the drive end of the alt but no
provision on the v pulley supplied with it. I whipped it down to the local machine and the slot was cut in the spacer and pulley £15.00 well spent I hope plus the usual bearing Loctite,

Great fix, worth knowing, RGP. Thanks

FYI, David Manners has got some replacement Delanaire Mark II amplifiers in stock. Quite dear of course. But rare as hens teeth for our year of car. I have bought one because the aircon runs so much better and more responsively to holding temp settings with the amp working 100% properly.

Yes, I did. Expensive for me too, but I have been struggling with second hand ones for ages, which sort of work, and so that is why I plunged for one. Right now I am running a NoS one that I miraculously found recently, which is 100%, but i know it will go home all too soon. So getting a modern design one (it looks completely different, but plugs straight in) was too good a chance to miss.

I mean, its only a tank and a quarter of fuel...

Yes, I did, on the advice of a very renowned specialist who at that time serviced the car (I was not retired at that point). Made absolutely no difference at all. The hoses come straight out of the compressor. Been like that for 12 years and aircon is fantastic.
Plus the Sanden can be fitted with modern charge ports, so the latest aircon machines can connect right up for dianosis, vac testing and charging.
