Oh I didn't mean the trailer looked sketchy, I mean towing with a car seems sketchy. Then again tons of people seem to use cars for towing and caravaning over there. I just can't see the frame of the XJ being built to handle that kind of pull from the rear.
I can't really tell, but that trailer doesn't look like its braked. Without a brake the XJ12 is suppsed to be around 1700lb, with brakes it is around 3300, so 3900~ for the XJrs is definitely over the limit.
so pulling with the xj is way sketchier than that trailer

Wow my 'little' joke has got serious...........
Flint, yes, most cars can tow. That's not the problem.
In the UK, unlike most of Europe, we just stuck a home made towbar (hitch) and pulled anything from an old caravan chassis with a car on it, to a small 4' x 4' camping trailer behind any car we liked. The Gov. has tightened up the laws on what can be towed and by Whom. Goes on cars and/or trailers max. weights, braked non braked age licence of driver and on and on.........
