Default Oil Brand/weight opinions

I need advise on oil brands/ weight...
My Jag has the AJ16 engine w/ 125k miles and thinking about using Mobile 1 HM 5w30. The temp in my area has one month over 100˚ F and rarely drops below 25˚F. Gaskets and seals are always a concern in older cars and I plan on driving between 3k - 7 miles per year...
There seems to be many opinions out there, what's your thoughts on oil and filters?

Spring is here, time to drop the top,

-Tim

Go have a look in the X300 section as it has the same engine. There are a number of on topic threads in recent memory.

The engine doesn't require anything exotic but many owners treat their Jags to a highly rarified diet. Can't hurt, might help, feels good.

I use whatever name brand is on sale that day.

Some owners (including me) lean towards a bit heavier viscosity as the miles creep up. I started using 10/40 at about 100k miles or so.

For filters I use Jaguar OEM, WIX, Bosch, AC Delco.....

Cheers
DD

Hello,

I have the same car as you, I use Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 year round in Houston with similar temps to the ones you described. If they come out with a 5w40 M1 High Mileage , I would totally jump on that.
