Default Oil Pressure

Here are my readings from my gauge while the car is at it's "normal" operating temp. 60 degrees outside, car has been running for over an hour, highway driving at 80mph.
First pic is while driving, second is stopped a light. It seems way low, notice my temp gauge never gets to "N" either. The car sounds great though, the oil pressure does go up while driving. At first cold start of the day it goes to 6. How's yours?

I have less oil pressure than you (My gauge will read 0 at warm idle, but the idiot light doesn't come on)

I have more temperature than you (My gauge gets up to the middle and stays there, mostly with the help of the electric fan cutting in and out)

I have an oil temperature gauge with the sender in the sump. It's quite interesting watching it, for example I can have low oil temps while driving at speed, but as soon as I stop, the temperature goes up quite rapidly. I also note it takes a lot longer for the oil to come up to temperature compared to the water

Looks about like mine. When it gets warm at idle it will go to near 0 but that seems to be pretty common and not an indicator of trouble.

IIRC, the manual states oil pressure should be 40psi at 3,000 RPM.

Low oil pressure when warm and at idle is normal for the V12s...maybe 5-8 psi or so.

As for coolant temp gauges.....

At some point Jaguar when to a "fixed reading" temp sending unit that always reads at the exact same spot on the guage unless the coolant get wayyyyyy hot... then the needle moves over. Not sure when the change was made on the assembly line but the later type sender is often sold in place of the original.

Later Jaguar did the same thing with oil pressure gauges

Cheers

doug i think thats the old one. Idk if its a set temp or more to do with the thermostats and second fan kicking on. Mine will get pretty high and then something will happen and it will drop like a rock.

Its a bad idea though because if you are just on the cusp of whatever the temp is it will stay up or jump back and forth.

but I suppose if that high temp is still safe and a "good point" to begin lowering the temp and not some kind of emergency thing it is fine.

all in my head

@sidescrollin

I was also concerned that the temp gauge does move around quite a bit.

I fitted an idiot light in the center console that comes on when my electric fan starts running. It is a cool blue LED..... it's blueness calms me down :-)

I'm not worried about engine temps when the car is running now, I am more concerned about heat soak when you switch off. Even with the electric fan running on I still worry. There is a different specc'd temp switch for the electric fan from FasterJags (I think it changeover point goes from 82deg to 77deg). I'm going to try this to see if it does run the fan on for longer and hopefully stop the heat soak a bit
