I won't give a recommendation as I don't have a v12. Folks will speak from experience. I would also suggest going over to bob is the oil guy forums and having a poke around.

The V12 doesn't require anything exotic.

The majority of V12 owners use 20/50 unless they're subject to freezing or lower temps.

Some guys like synthetics and/or ultra premium brands and/or seek out oils with higher zinc content than average. Usually there's lots of discussion....so be prepared :-)

I use whatever name brand is on sale that day.

Cheers

the higher the better. V12's have very low pressure at idle. although theye dont need a lot since they have no lifters, rockers or pushrods.

I'm with Doug.

I run 10W/40 Synthetic in both V12's, the HE is 255k kms, and the PreHE is 500k kms, and the AJ16 ALL year round. I buy 20ltr drums at a "good" price.

If it "dont leak none", FRAME IT, just joking, simply could not resist that one, sorry if offence is taken, none meant. Time for another Merlot after that one.

I dont look at the oil gauges on them, they are British, and not printable here.

Both the V12's have 25psi at idle (700rpm), HOT, which is both thermo fans ON, so my care factor is pretty low. That is taken with a mechanical master oil gauge in the idiot light hole at the rear of the engine. The pressure at above idle is 60psi from 2500rpm and up, so I am happy with that.

Me too, always 100% synthetic. When I took the cam covers off to do the gaskets, the cam lobes had no discernable or feel-able wear on them at all. 110k miles. I am a true believer in 100% synthetic for this engine.

The sump was completely clean too when I regasketed that. No sludge, nothing. Mind you, it might have had a bit of a flush when the injectors stayed on when the harness shorted...

I use Mobil1 15w50 in the spring and change to Mobil1 0w40 in the fall. I don't put on enough miles to wait for the proper mileage to roll in.

Heh heh, not that I want to start the inevitable oil debate, but mine was the same at 105K miles without synthetic oil ever being used ! :-)
