Default Only 9k miles but headrests missing?

I'm considering purchasing a '90 XJS coupe with only 9k miles. However it looks like the headrests have been sawed off and are missing?... Anyone ever come across this before? You can actually see the hacked up metal headrest post and the leather on the top edge of the seat, which would sit underneath the headrest, scuffed up with saw marks. Cant' imagine why one would do this to a pristine, low mileage beauty. Seems like I'd have to buy completely new seats? Is it possible to buy some older used seats in the same trim and have the leather removed from the headless and placed onto the replacement seats? Any thoughts on what this would cost?

Idiocy. They're only held on by one bolt. Probably took them longer to saw off than it would have to remove them the right way.

Any reason you just can't source some used headrests? Ought to be able to find them in good shape, they don't really take a beating. Then just see how much of the saw marks are covered by the headrest.

Would the bolt have been above or below the top of the seat back?...the headrest post/tube was sawed off flush with the top of the seat.

Pop off the leather-covered cardboard seatback and the bolt is right there.

Thanks Darel,

so the post that was hacked off was attached to the headrest and not the actual seat, right?... and I should be able to take the bolt out, slide the remaining post out, slide new headrests in and bolt thelm into place?

Yup, that's exactly right.

FWIW at only 9,000 miles I wouldn't be "considering" this car. It'd already be in my garage, drooled upon.
