Default overpriced and opportunists

Looking thru eBay on an xjs search I couldnt help but notice some ludicrous pricing for parts. For instance, pollen filters @ £80, wood sets for £800. is the guy mad?, when I checked out his other items they are so overpriced I cant understand how he got a 300 odd feedback, albeit not all positive, there are 2 sellers who think all jaguar owners are eccentric millionaires, and they both appear to be based in Dundee Scotland. moral, shop about.

yes, but the result in an open market system will be:

1. the seller finds a buyer

2. the seller lowers his price

3. the seller gives up and keeps the item

buyers can do as they wish

I have limited sympathy for those who foolishly pay over-the-top prices.

Car parts...especially for a hobby car....are seldom purchased on an emergency basis. The internet makes research and comparisons very easy. If you pay a silly price it's probably because you haven't done any homework at all.

As Plums says, it's a free market. The seller can name his price....and the buyers can do as they wish. Free will.

I think the word "opportunist" would more aptly apply in a situation where free will isn't in play. If there's a natural disaster and the supermarkets and hardware stores triple the price of bottled water and flashlight batteries, that's being opportunistic.

Cheers

Well, it's just a matter of looking around. Within the last year I sold 2 brand new pairs to different people (one with the black growler covers) for 300.00.

Just shop around. The sets I have left are spares for my own car otherwise I would offer you a pair

Thanks, I have the original passenger side, just need the drivers side one, I may find a set eventually or just buy a single from someone or else sell this one.

Speaking of overpriced...

1987 Jaguar XJS

While it's certainly looking pretty nice and seems to have low mileage, I don't think there's an 87 XJS anywhere worth 23k.

The originals are Hella. I bought these with clear covers Hella 450 Rectangular

They're slightly different dimensions from the originals, and the rear housing is black plastic instead of chromed steel. I'm happy with them, and the price seems reasonable.

Thanks for the Hella link. I may replace mine with those if I can't get all the rust off.

I would like to find a set of covers for my original Hella's.. The first owner forgot they were on and used his fog lights. LOL... They got slightly melted.
