This is an intentional feature of the car. The bulb out warning light should go out after about 15 or 20 seconds. It in effect tests the system when the lights are switched on.

If the warning light never goes out, then either there is a failed bulb, or the bulb failure units are malfunctioning.

No, the interior lights are not part of the bulb out system. The driver's door courtesy light should illuminate when you open the doors, but not when you use the dashboard switch to turn on the front interior lights.

The fitting just prises out (carefully!) and the bulb inside is a 5watt festoon.
