Potential Lump Owner
Hey all!
I don't have a Jag yet but I hope too soon! Or at least a Lump if you don't wanna call it a Jag.
The specimen in question is an '82 xjs with a chevy 350 TPI and a 700R tranny and a Jaguar rear end. Its in great condition and a great price with low mileage on the engine. I plan to use it as a daily driver and try to restore its exterior glory whenever possible, but somewhat of a concern to me is the fuel economy. I have heard that a car like this can get in the vicinity of 20 mpg. That would be fantastic especially since my '95 mustang 3.8 could hardly pull that off. Can any Lump owners confirm this mileage estimate? Any recommendations/warnings/advice for a potential new Jag/Lump owner?
Thanks guys and gals!

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume you could get that kind of mileage or perhaps better with that engine/tranny combo and the stock gears in the rear. I worked on, rebuilt and used those engines for many years and they were my favorite of all the GM motors.
didnt you already post this? lol as i said in the other thread, a 350tpi will easily get in the 20's, my "baby 8" 4.3L 700r4 gets 24-26 if i drive like a civilized human being (who owns a jag who isnt haha) you'd probably get 22-24 combined
