Default Power steering pump (metric) alternative

Hi gents, i would like to replace my steering pump and OEM is NA or cost a fortune.
i have found a bunch of alternatives on summitracing, but they might not be metric, im not really sure if metric was region based on model based, please advise,
OEM part number is apparently EAC3167E.

Thank you

mouserider,

The Jaguar part number for the pump is EAC3167 (rather than EAC3167E). However the part number that any of the OE companies that supplied to Jaguar, will be their own numbering convention.

As regards metric or imperial fastenings, JAguar didn't discriminate based on region. Whatever part was fitted, it will have had the same fitting standard in all markets. As regards whether the pump fittings are metric or not, I can't tell you, but presumable you can measure your own?

Cheers

Paul

but then all cars should have either imperial or metric steering pump and my question is even simpler, disregarding the fitting, what alternative pump would fit 92 xjs?

why i was asking is that, for my car sngbarrat, clearly states that its P.A.S. Pump (Metric). (EAC3167E)
summit racing for my car gives me that alternative https://www.summitracing.com/parts/l.../xjs/year/1992

and it has imperial outlets from what i can see. Thats why im asking. Thanks

Sorry mouserider, I don't know if either the SNG or Summit Racing descriptions are accurate, or what the fitting standard is on a genuine Jaguar EAC3175. Maybe other members may know? Are you able to measure yours to confirm if metric or not?

Cheers

PAul

I can't directly answer, but I will throw out some info. My 90 has the more or less "generic" GM Saginaw pump. I looked at Rock auto under 92, and find that they list the same pump for that year. Their catalog shows several options which specifically say they are metric threaded. I don't know where you are but they will ship anywhere, and I find that their prices are lower even with freight than most other places.
For what it's worth, I find their catalogue to be an excellent cross reference tool *as long as they have a listing for my part*.

Is the pump damaged or is it rebuildable? It's a standard General Motors Saganaw pump, used on millions of GM vehicles, so the rebuild kit is not expensive.

oh, im not a mechanic, so i cant really say, thats why i thought it would be easier to change it.

Long story short, i have rebuilt entire subframe including every single bush and ball joint, rack has been sent for complete rebuild as well. But steering is still not quite right and apparently last thing is pump itself. Its acting funny, very stiff on low speeds , a bit easier while driving but on the turns it feels stiff and also a bit luggy, its kinda feels like steering wheel jerks when turning. Apart from that, no noise or leaking, fluid level is normal and it was always like that.

Thanks
