Seems I stumbled across a very interesting project.. This is nice considering that I am a fan of both Jags and 2jz's. Quite a recipe you are cooking up, I can't wait to see the end results... Video's please!!!

Long awaited update!

Ok, we ran into MORE problems with the transmission adapter , but we have overcome adversity and now we can not be stopped!

The shop who made the adapter didn't consider that the flexplate on the v12 was much closer to the block than it is on a normal GM engine with a US Turbo 400 transmission! So the first screwed up adapter was what actually made the whole thing work out with the second adapter! LOL We had to stack the two adapters!

So here's where it is at as of last Friday. The transmission is now totally bolted up to the engine, and we hooked up the starter to a battery and the starter engages nicely and the engine turns over like it was brand new! I can't wait to drive this damn car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's some pics of the transmission and engine, and we also installed some new poly rack bushings and also new mounts for the front crossmember. So now all the subframe bushings have been replaced front and rear! I found a great deal on Bilstein shocks for the car, I think I might go ahead and put those on too. This car should drive like a dream when we are done. Also notice that they had two different 3 bolt patterns on the flywheel, and the Jag uses all 6 in the "big" GM torque converter pattern, so we had to machine slots in the 3 "small" bolt pattern holes to accept the big bolt pattern studs. We had to use studs because bolts would not fit in due to a clearance issue with the flywheel. What a PAIN IN THE *** this transmission swap has been!

That should do the trick!!

If this seems like a dumb question bear with me, but what are you going to do about the radiator, and now with the engine in situ, does the bonnet/hood still fit?

Cheers,

I'm going to run a Toyota Supra radiator, and there's actually enough room for that and an AC core also!

Hey Aaron, Josh from Ky with the 2jzgte big single lexus, i found this by accident and that is sick. i just ordered a few more parts from you and you shipped yesterday to get mine together, you should throw the greddy knockoff intake you have on it or i have a fully polished stock one with a blowoff valve molded into the throttlebody where the trac is, it is on SF for sale. (one thing about the intake, says stock throttlebody fits...nope q45 does, also how it bolts together on the stock lower it doesnt seal all the way and you have to RTV/seal and tweak it.) need more updates and more video...lol

Thanks man, yeah I will be blinging it out plenty as time permits, but for now I just want to get it running and driveable. Right now it's getting the most over engineered motor mounts you have ever seen.

On that intake manifold, it doesn't say the stock throttle body fits, it says it fits our 80mm throttle body. I changed the description to specifically say that it does NOT fit the stock throttle body.

I just stumbled across this project since I spend most of my time in the XK8/R part of the forum. I have to say the Toyota engine wouldn't have been my choice, but this is a really cool swap and I love to read about these things. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

I can make twice the power for half the money with twice the reliability on the 2JZ engine, with about 10X more aftermarket parts support here in the states. I sell engine and drivetrain parts all the time to people swapping 1JZ and 2JZ engines into S13's and S14's, even the Nissan guys would rather swap in a JZ engine instead of an RB! But....maybe I'm biased because I sell Toyota and Lexus parts for a living.

In other news, the Jaguar has been on hold temporarially because we had so many projects going on.

I was able to completely map out the 2JZ Aristo engine wiring harness body and ecu connectors, and I made a nice wiring diagram in a excel spreadsheet, so all I need now is a good XJS wiring diagram for the Jag. Does anyone have a good engine and body wiring diagram for a 1990 XJS? I wouldn't mind buying a wiring diagram in "factory service manual" form if it really details all the wiring of the whole vehicle, and doesn't cost $200. I looked online but couldn't find anything wiring related for a 1990 XJS.
