Default Radio Antenna and Trunk Lights

A new problem greeted me this morning. My radio antenna made no effort to rise, and, when I went to open the trunk and inspect the situation, the trunk lights did not go on. I would have suspected the wiring connecting the radio and antenna, but, since the lights decided to conk out at the same time, I figure there may be more at work. The antenna has always been a bit slow and noisy, but it always rose and retracted fully. Any ideas on the matter?

You might want to start with checking the fuse box in the luggage compartment - on my 96 XJS fuse #5 - 10 amp - controls aerial motor and rear fog lamps. If the fuse is ok then I'd check the relay for that circuit. I've had more issues with bad original relays compared to fuses but the good news is relays are cheap and plentiful..

The fuse was the problem. I probably should have checked there first. My thanks for the help.

Also to add, the fuse blew on mine as well, the antenna was having a hard time going up and down, it was loading up the fuse. A simple greasing fixed it.
