Radio code?
I didn't have a VIN number for the car that the radio I bought came from. No way I could have supplied that. I sent them the serial number of the radio, period. When I was having this issue, Jaguar dealer was the only one that asked for a vehicle VIN number.
The solution is to change the jumpers on the solder pads to match the ones shown in the photos by XJSV12, leave the radio powered for 2 hours and then enter the corresponding code to match the pattern of jumpers I choose. Then it works. This is for the AJ9150W.
Indeed it does! My radio powers up and accepts the code after removingn the jumpers. Now to make sure the car's harness is correct, as this is a 92 radio going into a 94 V12 and naturally the wiring is different.
Seems my radio is dead. Powers up and accepts the code, tunes to a station, but there is no sound. A faint hum from the speakers when the plug is connected, but no music from the speakers when turned on.
Other oddities is it would not accept the code and power up until the illumination wire had power, and as soon as the power was connected the antenna would rise, no matter if the radio was turned on or not.
I followed the wiring diagram for a 1992 XJS, and as far as I know this is the correct radio (AJ9150W) for that wiring configuration. I know the later radio's ( AJ9250W) look identical but have different wiring.
This same radio was used for late (1991-92) Series III XJ12 sedans, but I couldn't find a wiring diagram for those cars.
