I bet that this is an Auto Trader ad. They do this all the time, advertising the six cylinder XJS as a "V6". Since most sixes are V6's nowadays, they figure if it is a six it must be a V6. This error is probably induced by the way the advertiser is supposed to select the engine option, landing on V6 without realizing. - BTW, I don't think that anybody is ever going to put a V6 in the XJS, not a chance...

Cheers,

OK, it is not Auto Trader, but rather Hemmings, however, there's one engine picture on this car's ad and it's definitely an AJ6 engine, exactly like the one in my car. Like I said, the V6 engines are so commonly known and popular nowadays to the point that many forget that the straight sixes still exist, especially with BMW cars' current production.

I'm more concerned about the "very rare" part...

Actually, of more interest in the same Hemmings issue is Frank Sinatra's old 1989 BRG coupe showing on the clock what appears to be like only 11,291 miles and being sold for $69,500. It had previously (15 years ago) been sold at Pebble Beach for no less than $175,000 so, obviously, that buyer doesn't look much like one of those who makes lots of money buying and selling vintage cars... by quite a margin... So, who ever buys this XJS now for $69K may be selling it for, say, $17K in some five years from now?

The engine looks clean, but I'd bet that the parts showing the most wear on this car would be... the ashtrays... huh.

Let the bids begin...

Cheers

Here's ol' Blue Eyes' BRG XJS:
Sorry, for some reason it won't come up.

So, I guess that I tried to upload the entire ad and all I did was to create a mess... now I can't even remove it. I'll see if I can somehow isolate just the picture to post it here.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Actually, we have one member who has done just that (GM 3800 with an M90 supercharger), and another member who is awaiting a call from the shop that is installing his Ford twin turbo (ecoboost) V6 https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...photos-156680/.

Both cars used to be V12s.

Oh, yeah, with a s/c or a turbo it makes a world of difference, such as with the Buick Grand National. Probably more HP than the replaced V12's, huh.
