Re gluing heated wing mirror
Heated mirror
Does anyone know the correct way to re glue a heater wing mirror back on. Mine was vibrating when driving which was incredibly annoying. When I looked at the mirror it was clear the mirror itself was mostly detached from being stuck on. It was easy to prise it off from the remaining glue and disconnecting the two heater leads.
The heater still shows resistance so I'm sure it still works so I need to know the procedure to re glue. The old glue needs removing somehow - a solvent or other means ?
Can anyone advise on a suitable glue ?
Many thanks

Hi,
I had the same problem with one of my mirrors.
On mine it looked like the mirror originally had a very thin, double-sided, clear plastic membrane that fixed the mirror to the housing. Those four, faint rectangles on your photo look like someone has tried to re-fix it using double sided pads - the sort that fix registration plates.
I bought some clear gell-like double sided pads from a hardware store that are used for fixing bathroom fittings and cut to shape. Fix to the backing first and then offer the mirror up. They worked a treat and now I can see clearly out of the mirror without vibration.
Good luck,
LeeP
