Rear spring compressor idea
I have a set of spring compressors for the rear spring/shocker assembly. they work; but are quite diffuclt to use and can easily become springbound. They look like this:

i have just been watching an old Wheeler Dealer show, where Ed China had a demon tweek to use these far more easily. The attached diagram (which I am indebted to my old friend Pablo Picasso for sketching for me) shows how this works.
Essentially, you place the spring/shocker unit in a vice held by the bottom eye. Slide a tube under the jaws. Fit the compressor top jaw normally; but fit the bottom jaw pointing OUTWARDS, away from the coil.
Then use a U bolt (or piece of studding etc) to go round the bottom outward facing jaw and round under the tube, secured by an exhaust clamp or a bit of steel under the tube through which the U bolt goes with nuts to secure it.
Then you compress the spring normally using the threaded drive. The top of the spring HAS to come downwards as the bottom jaw is held stationary by the U bolt. NO binding of the jaws, all held secure. Absolute genius idea.

Lots of good ideas out there.
