Doug,

In which case, you may like the look of the Arden AJ6, their conversion to remove the roof buttresses on the XJS and create that "notchback" look. m See pic below.

Cheers

Paul

From Afterburner
Thanks for all the info. Your right I don't want a removable hardtop; WHY?

Because I bought a beautiful 1993 XJS Coupe! Black, fast and sleek!

In the beginning I thought a hardtop would be more functional and provide the best of both worlds. I didn't know that Jaguar did not provide this option (except cabriolet) I thank you all for my hardtop education, it was appreciated.

Or talk the JDHT into selling you this one:
Concepts and prototypes : Daimler XJ-S - AROnline : AROnline

I have seen it in the flesh, lovely in dark blue!

I had seen one of the hardtops for sale on CL here in SoCal. I thought it would replace the folding top on my 89 convert. Now I know that it is only for the cabriolet model. It's on the LA CL for 500.00 Now I know.

If you really need a removal hard top you should get one of these.

But I think that you'll find that you're either going to have it on the car all year around or tripping over it in the garage all year around. At least this is my experience.

alabassi , you simply hang, with rope, the removed top from the ceiling of the garage, right above the car, some times on a pulley system.

been done many times, altho years back, shame some old ideas fade away!

Would love to see a photo of your 1998 XJSC

It's actually a PIA to change from Cabriolet to soft top. Soft top comes in a nice storage bag. Removing the front Tee Top sections though is easy and nice.
