Default Removing front wings

I'm removing the front wings to deal with windscreen scuttle rust issues.
I have removed all the bits (bumper, wheel arch linings, headlights etc ) and am ready to unbolt the wings along the edge of the bonnet.
Are there any welded joints I need to cut or do the wings simply lift off when the bolts are removed?

The only weld on the wing is where the lower wheel arch front is joined to the.lower front corner panel
Mine was lead loaded there as well. Just hacksaw through it.

Hey Paddy, don't apologise! You and I both know that they are called Wings!

Not sure on a '92 but on late cars, there doesn't seem to be any weld or lead-loading, perhaps because of the plastic bumpers covering the join.

Good luck

Paul

rgp,

Paddy's is a '92 so doesn't have big-bumpers, so may well have a leaded join like yours.

Cheers

Paul

I think I do have something at this joint on the inside of the wheel arch at the front, its smooth to run your finger across. As you say I have a stage 1 facelift with the older style bumpers which don't completely hide the joint.
Just anxious not to make a mess as the wings (aka Fenders!) are perfect as far as I can see and don't need painting....
What I'll find underneath is another story.
Expect the worst is the required philosophy!

I think you will find it’s a brazed weld to join them together. Just needs splitting by whatever means takes your fancy. I think I did mine with a thin cutting disk in the grinder.

I would also like to find new light panel / wing extension and maybe see some old wing body shop pics
