Default removing the right blower on a LHD car

Went on a 300 mile trip last weekend, and was pleased that everything seems to work to satisfaction, except for the a/c.

It just isn't pushing enough air. I understand that one possible failure mode is that one of the blowers is not functioning. In my attempt to removed the right side blower (LHD car), I was able to get two nuts (bottom left and upper right) off, but something is still holding it in.

FYI, the blower works, at least the left side one does, but I thought while I was digging there I should pull it, inspect and clean it.

Finally, can anyone tell me with confidence that this is a Mk III unit, and not a MK II? I know that the MK III's were supposed to be in all MY 1987 and up cars (mine is a MY 1987), but I've been surprised enough by this car over the years not to take much for granted.

Thanks,

John

Thats a Mk111 by the look of the ECU.

Here are a couple of manuals that will help as well as a couple of things I put together to help repair the AC system.

I think ( from memory) there are 3 nuts that hold it in. The recirc flap also goes into an opening in the body, so you might have to manipulate the linkage from the vacuum motor to get the flap in a position where it clears everything.

Correct. There are two fixings, one each side, but you have to manually open the flap that is in the bodywork aperture - by puling the linkage on the blower with your hand and holding it open - before you can wiggle and release the blower downwards.
