Replacement bulbs for Euro Headlamps

Replacement bulbs for Euro Headlamps
I refuse to change my Euro-headlamps that make my xjs look like a custom car with an ahead of it's time design. 99 % of all the new cars have the(fully enclosed look). Although some of them have twin bulbs UNDER the outer clear housing. Even the 1958-60 Citreon had a teardrop shaped headlight which was WAY before it's time. But Enough of this my question for the forum is........Does anyone know where there are some high power well made replacement bulbs for the xjs that would virtually eliminate all of the rumors about the euro headlamps dimness? I purchased a set that were giving blue light but were not very bright probably due to their low price, and they were no higher wattage than the original bulb so I must have been a little nieve in the lamp replacing field at the time. I don't think they've come up with a true LED replacement bulb yet. But I believe it's just a matter of tine as I recently purchased a shop light equivalent form depot .It's 120v but and the LED is about (I mean the yellow part of the led the actual part that emits light is 5/16 in circumference and when you plug that light in it's like... woe point that thing away from me! So I'm sure :icon_worth y:LED replacement bulbs are in the making I'm sure. But, again does anyone have some more information on this subject applying to the availability of some newer offerings to REALLY brighten up the front of our stock euro headlamps? Thanks! Buddyluv!!

The Euro one-piece headlights use H4 bulbs, one each side. You may or may not also have a little 'side light' (US parking light, I think) bulb as well. The bulbs have two elements and are usually quoted as (eg) 65watt/90watt, being the dipped and main beam wattages.
There are legal limits in the UK and Europe on bulb wattage, but a quick look on Ebay.co.uk for 100watt H4s will give you loads of options, and they will mainly post them anywhere. I no longer have Euro headlights as I cannot find RH dipping ones anywhere. But my UK euro headlights, LH dipping, were fantastic with 90watt H4s in them.
If anyone has a GOOD set of RH dipping euros, I might be interested.

Do not use a blue tinted bulb, the color filter reduces the available light. Stay with a clear high wattage bulb for best results. My XJS (95 rhd) uses the 9004 bulb which is about as bad as it gets. We here is the US are way behind the Europeans in our auto lighting. I use the GE Nighthawk 9004NHP.

Caution with the 100w bulbs as they generate more heat.
