Replacement cooling fan and clutch types
Hi all. I need a replacement for the cooling fan. My original is yellowish and has a dished boss. Car is a very late pre HE
The only fan that is available is black with a flat boss, p/no EBC4553. A parts company here in Oz advised that I will need a black fan and a new clutch as mine will not fit.
From what I can find, It appears that 2 types of clutch have been used, a single bolt and the later 4 bolt, which mine is.
Can anyone please advise if the black fan will be a direct replacement for my yellow one and fit in the correct position? I assumed that if the boss was flat, the blades might sit too far back.
I would appreciate any help before I buy something I don't need.
Many thanks.
Scott.

Scotty,
The Black fan was an upgrade from the White/Yellow fiasco.
The earlier steel fans had a different fan clutch that I remember????.
IF yours is a 4 bolt TO the fan bearing hub, that is HE, so the HE fanclutch is the one you need.
Check the prices these days, coz when mine went AWOL, I fitted the AU Falcon twin themo fans, about $200 way back, probably cheaper now aftermarket, and that was the best "upgrade" I ever did.

Black fan and clutch
Hi Grant.
Thanks for the help confirming that.
Believe me, I was so tempted to use Falcon electric fans, but the car is on historic rego so it should be kept original. Fitting Falcon fans might be frowned on. At least the black fan is what Jaguar classic is supplying, so is as original as I can get.
You confirmed that the clutch I have is the right one, so I only need the fan, so the cost isn't too bad.
Thanks again.
Scott
