So I removed those 2 sensors. The holes don't go right through. So I trimed the ports off and smoothed the top with jb weld. I'll smooth them out tomorrow and reinsert them
Not so quick on dismissing them. Pull this crap out of my two Ganos filters yesterday. This was after a flush, new water pump, recored radiator, and a new coolant tank. Black flakes apoear to be paint from God knows where. There was also sand, some as large as small pebbles.
Well damn Man... That's pretty undeniable...
Question: After you run it with the filter, do/would you recommend removing the filter (mission complete) or leaving it for the long term?

I'm going to leave them. According to some, casting sand comes out of the engine "forever". I'll check them periodically. Who knows what else I'll catch?!
So I started refilling the coolant following grants procedure, as I have done before seen here with left side jacked up...
...after about 1 hr of slowly filling it up I'm around 20L and I here coolant dripping, it's coming out of the air bleed hole first.... ok.... I cap it... put just a little in and I can here it going into the expansion tank.... that's when I here coolant dripping again.
I guess my patch job of the crack at the bottom failed...
So I removed the expansion tank and have it sitting in the pan draining. Will access tomorrow.
But I did notice that there was a lot of fluid in the expansion tank more then I thought when i removed it so was wondering why it didn't come out of there first instead of the bleed hole?
Sure wish I was as close to getting mine back on it's feet - careful with the cleaning up - generally means you'll be making a mess again if sod is around with the rule book. Got to admire the persistence and focus.

sod? Lol
No mess until I get to me new house and new 3 car garage.
I'm gonna have to buy some garage mats to pair the xjs on. Cause who knows when it will leak again lol
Perhaps 'sod' doesn't make the transatlantic journey ...
We say Sod's Law or Murphy's Law - it is a way of saying that whatever you think, reality will have something else planned.
For me it is the point where I pack the tools away, clean up only to go get them out again when I spot what I missed despite all those check's, rechecks - I mean what could go wrong - well Sod and Murphy pretty much conclude 'everything' ... set the expectation low that way the level of disappointment is reduced.

Got the expansion tank mounted again. Will continue filling up with coolant tomorrow.
Fixed the truck lid latch.
Also took the ant out. It never went all the way down (bottom section). So looked inside. Extended it by hand using the inner gears, the bottom section came out more and noticed a slight bend in it. So bent it back slightly. Also took 2000grit to all the sections to polish them up, then rubbed lubrication oil along the whole section. Seems to be better but won't know till I hook power up to it. Meh was gonna gut the whole system anyways down the road.
