Rewire advice distributor to ignition amplifier
l have the failing wiring between the Distributor and ignition amplifier on my 1982 V12 HE.
l want to rewire that section, is there a advised method? lm thinking i will eliminate that one connector block, but thats about it.
ls there any advised maintenance to carry out in that area ''while im there''?
Cheers AOI

That is tricky.
The wires inside the distributor need to be retained, due to the "flexibility" of them for the movement of the vac capsule on the base plate. Copper wire will fail from the constant bending movement.
Soldering new to that "flexible" wire is doable, but takes time.
I eliminated the grommet on all mine, and when the new wires were done, filled the hole with Black RTV, in small layers, allowing drying time between, until it looked OK to me.
I believe some have renewed the wires all the way to the reluctor coil, I decided not to at the time, as the breaks were all inside that rubber grommet.

Agreed,
Mine went AWOL on a Sunday afternoon, as they ALL do, and I had the school run in about 18 hours, so what I had in the shed HAD to work, and its still OK after 23 years, so re-inventing the wiring specs, NAH, I'd rather have a beer or 3.

In cases where I've needed ultra-flexi wire I've used fusible link wire. Of course you have to make sure that you're using it in low-amp applications....as you don't want it to actually do it's job when used outside its intended purpose !
