Default V12 Ignition???

Did the Jag V12 HE, ever have a regular point style distributor? Or one that could be used / retrofitted? Is there any kind of upgrade, such as an ignition box similar to an MSD, with a pickup coil inside the distributor, and OR ???? I'm considering taking the Extra XJS I have, and creating something unique. Unfortunately I need a stand alone Ignition, and fuel system. I will probably have to build a three manifold setup, to set a Ford 2 barrel Carburetor, over each set of 4 cyilnders, AKA "3 Dueces", as I don't want to mess with fuel injection. Since my wiring harness won't be there. As It's going to be used for the Jacobra. Any Thoughts, or ideas will be appreciated. I may just give my old XJS, Rust bucket "parts car" a new life? This could get interesting.

Jack

No points-type ignition ever used on the HE V12. In fact, I think every V12, right back to 1971, had some type of solid-state, point-less ignition.

I'm pretty sure that Crane and Pertronix make V12 ignition kits

Cheers

I have the Crane system on my 71 V12. Works great. I use the Crane full 12 volt coil as well. Had to bypass the factory ballast resistor

There was another company Omex I spoke with awhile ago, they have built drop-in engine/ignition management units before for V12s apparently.

I never got back to him but they would just need a complete list of sensor inputs and maybe some diagrams and other relevant details to ensure its all good. I got the impressiom its not hard to use this product with a coil on plug setup, or you can retain the dizzy etc.
