Default Ride Height

Hi,
Does anyone know the correct height of the 6.0 XJ-S ?, I'm meaning measured centre of road wheel to wheel arch.
This is to determine if it needs new springs.

Thanks

Glynn

6 to 6.5 inches clearance under the centre of the front subframe will give the correct ride height on any XJS. IMO.

Would this height apply to the front AND rear too...under the crossmembers? -I have my new Koni shocks and new rear springs going in next week, and would be good to see the before and after numbers, plus the difference in the ride.

The rear ride height is not easily adjustable, and if the correct springs and shock absorbers are fitted using the standard fitting collars, the ride height at the rear will automatically be right. As long as the new shockers are exactly the same dimensions as the ones you take off, and the new springs are from a reliable supplier, you will be fine.

The car should have a slight nose down profile looked at from the side.

FYI, the front ride height is adjusted by removing/adding large round spacers (the same diameter as the springs) from the spring pans. The spring has to be removed to make this adjustment, which is a fairly big job needing special tools and great care.
