Hey Jagzilla, did you ever try these on your XJS? Did you need any spacers? Open Question for anyone. I have a chance at a set nearby.
I'm also curious about the Pentas fit also, above.
Well no need to respond, I will know for myself. I found these beauts in our small town in Iowa very cheap. They are XJR 17" Sport rims with 255/45/17 Z rated tires... painted maroon.
So before everyone posts their favorite vomit 🤮 emoji, I plan to strip the paint off. Although my son said it gives it the Doc Hudson vibe. This seems to do the trick so far.
I didn't find any clearance issues on the test fit OR bearing cap issues. The hub bore on the Sports seems to measure identical to the starfish rims. I didn't see any suspension or fender lip issues in the static position. Well see when I get it in the road.
I did find an issue with one rim. Someone drilled the lug holes from 3/4" to 13/16" on one rim.
insert that is the correct size to replace the normal washer and has a 3/4" sleeve on it. Fortunately these rims carry the load on the hub, not the lugs so I just need to maintain the torque on the lugs.
Doing a quick calculation it looks like the standard washer contact area is .508 in^2 and the drilled wheel with new lug nuts would be .493 in^2, so 3% different and easily within measurement error and manufacturing variability. I think I'll try that first.

I found some These lug nuts that are virtually identical but have a larger washer on them to increase the bite of the lug on the rim. Or a Weld repair washer insert that is the correct size to replace the normal washer and has a 3/4" sleeve on it. Here's a followup. I got the bigger washer lug nuts and put the wheels on. I wanted to make sure the wheel didn't lose torque, so I'm checking it for a while. There are no clearance issues with the 255/45/17s on the XJR Sport rims. The front bearing cap fits fine, no rubbing fenders or wheel wells. XJR Sport bearing cap clearance Starfish bearing cap clearance
I stripped the paint off of one rim and am considering having a maroon lip around the rim. It needs to be repainted because there are some patches repaired in the aluminum.
the Goof Off works pretty well if you let it sit 20-30 minutes.
The ride improvement is quite remarkable, but expected I guess. I can feel the road without being harsh. It feels well planted on the road.
In my opinion, when people intentionally "chrome'" OEM stock rims it ruins them and their value significantly. Yours look fantastic though, perfect on that color car, it really pops and looks cool.
Here are three different wheel sizes for a side by side visual comparison: 15", 16" and 17".
The foreground is an '89 XJS Canadian Coupe with Stock 15" Lattice, next to a recently acquired Brooklands Green '96 Celebration 2+2 with stock 16" wheels and finally the red '93 Manual Convertible with freshly installed/refurbed 17" XJR6 wheels running 235/50/17 Continentals (No spacers, no rubbing etc). I've been thinking of picking up a set of revolvers for the Celebration but haven't decided yet. I also saw a set of Repop Machined 15" Kents that I thought would look cool on the coupe but hesitant because I really like how the XJR6 wheels look. I almost had them powder coated Hyper silver but am glad I left them machined... Anyway, I took the pics (sort of a photoshoot) this morning with my E type.

The aluminum patch work underneath polished out and looks decent enough to go with. Also had to fix a couple leaking beads but I polished them up and put them on. I took a touch up paint pen to try the red line look around the edge of the rim. I'll redo it later if I like it. Find patch work It polished out Leaks fixed and mounted Temporary redline experiment
There's still some Clearcoat around the lugs and center cap and in between the spokes to remove but I need to get the old rims and tires off, so it's good for now.
I may try to hint at the starfish look by gun metal gray in the lug holes and in the spoke holes.
I do think those XJR wheels are the only non-XJS wheel that should be fitted to an XJS. Everything else just looks wrong but, hey, that's just my view.
I would lose that red line, polish the wheel all over an don't paint the spokes inner edges.
Well, I am bumping this thread for those who are looking for 16" Lattice wheels.
I have been looking for a set for a very very long time and I finally found a brand new set earlier this year and they did cost me arm and a leg.
However, recently, a spotless set became available to me and I might consider selling them. They are from a 93 XJS and they were removed shortly after delivery in 1993 and have been sitting in storage ever since.
Here is a pic of our XJS with 16" Lattices and I can post a picture of the 2nd set that I acquired if there is any interest. They won't be cheap at all so keep that in mind.
