Rough running Climate Control Fan Motor

Rough running Climate Control Fan Motor
As some of you may recall, I have been resurrecting a '86 XJS that had been sitting and not running for over 10 years. I have completed most of the engine repairs and now have the V12 running properly.
The heater/ac fan motor did not run when I first powered-up the car but after cleaning some grounds and exercising the switches I have been able to coax the fan into turning.
The problem is that the fan motor runs loudly with a lot of vibration. It seems to be out of balance. I have not removed the motor yet to determine the problem. I was hoping someone here has had a similar issue and can tell me the cause.
Maybe after so many years of sitting one of the fan blades broke off to cause an imbalance?

Or shaft bearing with a rough spot.
Or something caught in the fan, perhaps.
Removing the fan is no pleasure cruise. You'll definitely earn "Jagman" status....if you haven't already.

The control circuit tends to fail on these sooner than the mechanicals so I might suspect something from the fact that it sat for 10 years. Like Doug mentioned, it could be something caught or a build up on one side of the blades.
They look like a total p in the a to remove, which is why I keep ignoring the one that needs attention on my car.

I got lucky. After 20 minutes the fan began to run smoothly. Looks like all it needed was to get some exercise after its long nap. I'm glad I don't have to take the motor out knowing what a PIA that is.
Took the car out for its first highway run today. Worked perfectly!
Now I can get started on the body work and make it ready for paint.

I removed the fan from my 94 this week to rebuild the control circuit, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do. I was expecting much worse than it was. 4 nuts hold a bracket for the relays, and 2 bolts on brackets is what holds it. Instrument cluster has to come out to get to the top nuts on the relay bracket, but on the facelift cars that isn't too difficult, only 5 screws.
I doubt it took me an hour to get the fan assembly out of the car, including time to read the manual.
