Seat mounting post question
I'm installing new carpets in my '93 coupe. Each seat post is covered with some very thin fabric. Anyone know why? Does it really do anything? They must have had a reason for putting it there but I have no idea what good it would do.

yes, it was there to stop you seeing bodywork under the mounting position ( painted surface ) , and you will find other small areas like this on the floor and behind seatbelt mounts for the same reason ,
the material is called ' mokette ' please forgive the spelling, it may be wrong
