Default Speaking of *****

I was just messing around the other day with the "T" bar shifter on my XJS looking for something different and I came up with a method of making a simple round shifter ball that for a prototype looks pretty good and even better, feels pretty good in your hand. I would show a picture but the prototype is pretty crude at the moment. I will be fabbing up a better version as soon as I find the right wood/plastic. The reason I bring this up is I am trying to gauge whether there would be any interest in purchacing a plain ball type shift knob for XJS's either painted or wood grain. Once I have something more presentable I'll post pics of it as well as some of the other simple and I think tasteful mods I've done to my wonderful car. I'm especially proud of the Superbird style wing I've added to the decklid.

Just kidding on the wing!

Later,
Rob

Did you have to modify the shifter "shaft"? Mine has the "T" style shifter so you cand just screw a stadard shift knob to it.

I wish mine was that simple but on both the 88 and my current 90 the shifter shaft is flattened into an "eyelet" shape and it is not a round threaded or smooth shaft. The diagram you display is for a facelift XJS of which mine is not. I don't want to go through the hassle of switching the shaft so I am building my "ball" in 2 halves that will bolt together. I am going to make mine simple black because it looks less "showy" to me.

I've never heard of a Tarts design Sports pack. Was it Europe only? What was included in it?
