Default Steering Rack Seals

The steering rack on the 90 XJS I just acquired is leaking. (not complaining)
I don't think it's worn out though. So I'd like to first try to replace the seals. Has anyone done this? Do you have to completely remove the rack, or can they be replaced it in situ after just removing the tie rod ends? The steering joint to the column looks like the hardest part to get undone (exhaust in the way) if removal is required. It's an Adwest brand with the cast iron end on one end. One more question. If a rebuilt rack is in order, will the latter ZF rack fit, or are the mounting tabs different?

Honestly speaking, a rebuild is a far better option. The later ZF rack is a direct fit, and it is a better rack with more feel, but the hoses may be different threads from the Adwest, so check that.
