Fitting switch covers with less frustration.
Begin by buying better screws in advance.
The upper cover is fitted first, held with 2 screws at the front, and one screw further back, to brackets around the steering column.
Jaguar used short 8-32 cheese ( slotted ) head screws which are not easy to put back in.
Phillips or pozi head would be easier. So 1 of those screws was missing on my cover, probably a typical result if anyone has worked in that area before.
The 2 front screws are a pain to firstly line up the screw holes and then to actually try and fit the screws. A small telescopic inspection mirror helps.
I bought longer 8-32 X 1&½ long phil head screws and used locknuts to form what is in effect a longer shoulder screw for the 2 front screws. Much easier to fit them back in.
The lower cover fits to the upper cover at the rear with 2 cheese head 8-32 X 1&¼ screws. Once again phil or pozi head makes life easier.
I could only find 1&¼ long screws so had to add washers+nut to get the correct effective length.
There is also a short cheese head ST screw used at the front securing the lower cover to the steering column bracket, and that is easy to fit.
